CGHAS works with many different organizations to provide books to qualifying recipients all over the world.
CGHAS sends shipments of donated books to non-government, not-for-profit associations, which commit to distributing and/or using these materials for the benefit of qualified beneficiaries (libraries, individuals, groups and/or institutions).
Each recipient organization must also commit to ensuring that the books will not be sold, that donations will not be accepted for the books, and that appropriate mechanisms are in place for the proper receipt, storage and/or distribution of the materials in the recipient country. It is important that the recipient organization, or a consignee identified by the recipient or funding organization, have the required authority to clear the book shipment through customs.CGHAS does not pay customs or demurrage charges.
An evaluation of each project is also requested by the (CGHAS). Each recipient organization signs an agreement with (CGHAS) (the Memorandum of Understanding), which defines the responsibilities of each party for the book shipment project.
All books are provided free-of-charge. However, a handling fee is necessary to reimburse (CGHAS) for those costs incurred to procure, process, store, pack, and ship donated books to an appropriate recipient organization.
Payment of the handling fee is the responsibility of the recipient organization. The recipient organization may wish to request funds for the cost-recovery fee from a funding organization. No books can be shipped until the handling fee is paid in full. Handling fees vary according to the type of shipment.
The (CGHAS)’s book inventories cover a broad range of educational levels, from primary to post-secondary, in most subjects. We can meet the needs of almost all recipients. Our inventories change constantly.
Most often a Donated Books are shipped in a 20-foot sea container, holding approximately 10 M.T. of books, depending on their size. The handling fee for this type of shipment is US$ 7.000 plus the full cost of freight for shipping to the recipient country/consignee. The handling fee is due upon signing the L.O.U. Occasionally, (CGHAS) may ship books in 40-foot sea containers, holding approximately 15-20 M.T. of books, depending on their size.
We will be pleased to answer any additional questions, once you have had the opportunity to read the general information provided.

This document serves to ensure the recipient organizations are duly registered non-government, not-for-profit organizations or institutions and that the books will be used only for the benefit of the ill, the needy, and the young. The information in this document also allows CGHAS to assess the eligibility of the recipient organization.Upon approval of a Donated Book Shipment application, we will proceed to prepare the administrative and financial documentation, which sets the project in motion.
